Can I transfer a Synology surveillance License? ›

If the licenses you entered have already been activated on other devices, you can migrate them over to the current device with an authenticated Synology Account.

Synology also provides three options for additional purchased licenses: 1, 4 or 8 Surveillance Device License Packs; each comes with a single license key, allowing you to activate 1, 4 or 8 surveillance devices at a time.

Synology Camera License Packs are designed for expanding cameras set up on the Synology Surveillance Station. By default, a license for two cameras is installed. By applying the Synology license key on the Surveillance Station user interface, you will be able to set up and manage more than two cameras on the network.

Your surveillance device license pack is valid for good once activated. Likewise, default free licenses will never expire.

To back up Surveillance Station:

Go to DSM > Hyper Backup to start the Backup Wizard. Follow the wizard, and choose Surveillance Station when you are prompted to select the applications to back up.

Export IP camera configurations

Go to Management > IP Camera, and then click Configuration > Export. In the Configuration Export Wizard, name your configuration and select a destination to save the file. Then click Next. Select and add the camera(s) whose configurations you want to export, and then click Finish.

Free default licenses¹ will never expire, and Surveillance Device License Pack² licenses will always be valid once they are purchased. Notes: Each Synology server comes with 2, 4, 8 licenses by default, depending on the actual model.

External access is the ability to remotely access your Synology NAS from any device with an internet connection. DSM allows you to easily set up remote access to your Synology NAS, so you can sign in to DSM or other services by simply entering a custom domain name into your web browser.

While some cameras record 24/7, others may only record at scheduled times. Some cameras may only start recording when certain alerts are triggered. For example, a camera system may only begin recording when motion is detected.

Open two web browsers of the same kind (e.g., Firefox), and connect them respectively to the source and target Synology NAS. Launch File Station on both Synology NAS. You can now directly drag and drop files/folders between them via File Station.

Details. Team folder permissions in Synology Drive follow those set on DSM. To adjust these permissions, sign in to DSM using an admin account and go to Control Panel > Shared Folder, select the shared folder you want to modify, click Edit > Permissions, and adjust the folder permissions as desired.

Select Offline License Validation and then Manage License > Add License/Delete License. Add or delete licenses: Agree to the terms and choose a server, or tap Add Server and enter details. Enter the license keys and confirm. Go offline: Transfer the updated DS cam app to your NAS without internet access.
